Mapping a domain to a second install in subdomain

asked Nov 3, 2014 by lesleyk (190 points)
Dear toasters!
I have installed a second site (seotoaster of course) in a subdomain and i use the main domain as the master install.

How do i add a domain name (not the subdomain name) to that second site? Can i simply do that in my DNS or is it more complicated ?

I would not want to show that the site is actually hosted in a subdomain and certainly do not want search engines to notice any kind of redirect...

Could you please help with this ?

best regards, lesley

Hi lesley,

this is a matter of DNS and host setup.
Basically, depending on your hosting situation, you can setup any number of virtual folders and then associate them with a domain. Then point your DNS to that IP, and your host should resolve and show the website if correctly setup.

Cheers
